I studied physical chemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, where I obtained both my MSc. in 2000 and my PhD. degrees in 2003. I then joined the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Originally interested in phase equilibria of multicomponent liquid mixtures of both molecular solvents and ionic liquids, my focus gradually shifted to thermophysical properties of ionic liquids in terms of their use in sustainable development, mainly in thermal storage. I continue to develop these research topics at the Department of Physical Chemistry of the University of Chemistry and Technology that I joined recently, focusing for instance on biobased ionic liquids that could be used as green solvents in biomass treatment and in their aqueous solutions.
